July 11, 2023 — The Cup – Edwardsville begins their summer 2023 remodel to refresh the bakery, increase production and efficiency to better serve the community.
The Cup – Edwardsville will remain open during it’s remodel with shorter hours and serving a smaller menu with its most popular items. The remodel will require the bakers to produce its delicious cakes and cookies at other locations including its sister bakeries in St. Louis, The Cup – Central West End and The Cakery Bakery; and just down the street at Bagley Farm Meat Market.
Bagley Farm Meat Market might seem like an odd baking site, but in 2020, Bagley’s moved into their newly custom-built stand-alone market which includes a small bakery department. Andrew Bagley, owner, knew of The Cup’s need for baking space and offered up its bakery area to The Cup for the summer. The Cup will be able to keep most of the cupcake production in Edwardsville during the remodel. In addition to the Cup Head Baker mixing up cupcakes at Bagley’s Market, he will be baking cookies and cupcakes for Bagley’s bakery department this summer.
“We originally thought that we were going to have to bake over 500 cupcakes in St. Louis every evening and deliver them to Edwardsville every night, so Andrew’s offer to allow us to bake 2/10ths of a mile down the street was truly a Godsend,” says the Cup owner and founder Ericka Frank. “The entire Bagley team has been extraordinarily gracious and helpful in this entire process. They have gone above and beyond in how accommodating they have been.”
“We are so excited to have The Cup baking in house this summer. They are fantastic people and everything they bake is delicious. We think this will be a great growing opportunity for both businesses,” says Emily Bagley.
The Cup will continue to frost and decorate their cupcakes in their temporary walk-in space, which is right next door to the original shop that is being remodeled.
