(St. Louis — March 22, 2021) The Cup is excited to share its 2021 April Fools’ Day dessert — this year inspired by a beloved St. Louis original — toasted ravioli!
To create a sweet treat that captures the St. Louis Italian-American favorite, The Cup’s creative bakers are using a sugar cookie “ravioli pasta,” chocolate cake “beef filling” with a graham cracker crumb and green nonpareil “breading,” topped with white chocolate “parmesan cheese,” served with a fresh strawberry and raspberry “marinara sauce.”
“I am blown away year after year at how our team continues to create a completely original and totally convincing menu item,” owner Ericka Frank says. “This is our seventh year, and our following just gets bigger every year. It has become as busy and as much fun as a major holiday for our shops!”
Previously The Cup has created cupcakes mimicking mashed potatoes and gravy (2015), taco salad (2016), a root beer float (2017), fried rice (2018), spaghetti and meatballs (2019), and slider and fries (2020).
Due to its continued increase in popularity, this year’s April Fools’ prank celebration will span five days. Toasted ravioli will be available Tuesday through Saturday, March 30 and 31 and April 1, 2 and 3 at both locations of The Cup (Central West End and Edwardsville, IL) until sold out. Toasted ravioli will only be available online at cravethecup.com — it will not be available for walk-in purchase, so do not wait to order!
